Character Name: Kokichi Oma
Series: New Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
Timeline: While he’s going through Death Road of Despair for the third or fourth time.
Canon Resource Link: Here ya go. Keep in mind, this wiki is currently undergoing a lot of revision.
Character History:
Kokichi Oma finds himself in a seemingly abandoned school all of a sudden.
He doesn’t remember exactly who he is or how he got there, but there are big scary robots lurking through the hallways when he tries to explore, so he gets chased into the gym where 15 other kids like him slowly gather. He wonders if he should check outside, but a random girl shoots him down. Then some guy named Rantaro Amami voices his suspicion about the whole ordeal, saying that 16 high school students trapped in a building usually means…
Suddenly, the giant robots burst into the room, startling everyone… And bickering to themselves about killing everyone… Apparently, they’re not supposed to just kill everyone, and the robots- Er, Exisals… Those weren’t supposed to come out yet! Whelp, the Exisal pilots decide to eject themselves to reveal their true forms: The Monokubs! Monotaro, Monosuke, Monophanie, Monodam, and Monokid welcome the new students to the lovely game of… Well, Rantaro knows about these weird bear things, and the weird bear things realize that none of these students think they have Ultimate Talents. The kubs blame Monophanie for the major memory screw up here.
According to them, all the “Ultimates” had their talents sealed away to protect them from a “Ultimate Hunt.” This is really starting to confuse Kokichi, who has to ask what this “sealed talent” thing is. His answer comes in the form of a magical girl-style transformation for all the students so they won’t look like they walked out of a plain old high school AU, then shine Remembering Lights at everyone so they remember their backstories…
It’s clearer now. Kokichi Oma is the Ultimate Supreme Leader, the one in charge of a secret organization known only as D.I.C.E., responsible for numerous petty non-lethal crimes and harmless pranks. Although he won’t reveal it to the public at large for obvious reasons, he sees his ten goons as family. It’s not clear if he has an actual family or not since he won’t give a straight answer, but he does care about the members of D.I.C.E. more...
Unfortunately, he’s found himself in a seemingly abandoned school all of a sudden, so he has no idea what happened to D.I.C.E., where this weird tablet labeled “Monopad” came from, or how he even got here.
It’s incredibly weird, but one of the first things he finds is a life sized, teenager shaped robot who looks so cool Kokichi has to go touch it, and bother it, and deliberately annoy it. Two other Ultimates, Kaede the Ultimate Pianist and Shuichi the Ultimate Detective, walk in on this mess. Kaede doesn’t believe there’s a robot person here, but the robot mistakes her for “another robophobe” and threatens to sue her for discrimination. Shuichi asked if the robot was with the Monokubs, but the robot denies this outright. The robot introduces
So Kaede asks Kokichi what his talent’s about, and he immediately tells her he runs an evil secret organization 10,000 members strong.
Maybe. He does lie a lot.
But he wasn’t lying about the secret organization, even though he isn’t gonna say anything about this secret organization. And of course Shuichi hasn’t heard of it, because it’s a secret organization. DUH. Keebo tells Kaede and her friend to leave the liar alone, for the liar is a more suspicious person than the robot. Kokichi points out that is true, because the robot isn’t technically a person. Then he learns the hard way that Keebo doesn’t have the ability to rocket punch. Boring.
After a while, the Monokubs show up on a live feed being broadcast on the monitors around the school. They instruct all the captive Ultimates to come to the gym for a special announcement. Since there’s nothing better to do, Kokichi is compelled to come and gather around with his other classmates, saying he’s kind of worried about the whole thing. Angie tells him not to worry, for her faith in her god, Atua, shall protect everyone. Yeah, that’s calmed him down…
All at once, the Monokubs drive their Exisals into the gym, and Kokichi is actually impressed by the mechs. Oh, it looks like Himiko might be frightened? He’ll jokingly tell her to run! (Even though she doesn’t seem to get the joke.) Anyway, Rantaro straight up asks them what they want.
Monodam says this is a Killing Game.
After the Monokubs get into a fight over who gets to announce the killing game, they end up having to break it up thanks to the entrance of none other than Monokuma himself. Monokuma “dotes” on “his cute little kubs” a bit before explaining the situation these kids are in: Thanks to the End Wall (more like a dome) surrounding the campus, the students will not be allowed to leave for the foreseeable future. If anyone wants to get out, they must kill someone and get away with it. If someone’s found dead, the students must investigate the crime and hold a class trial to sniff out the culprit. If they succeed, the culprit is punished. If not, everyone besides the culprit is punished… Or should we be using “executed” instead of punished?
So yeah, typical murdergame fare. Nobody is okay with this, especially not Kaede, but Kokichi says this situation is going to be interesting…
Everybody’s Monopad pings after the bears exit. It now lists the rules of the Killing Game. Again, this is basic murdergame fare that encourages exploration of the school and specifically states that the game will end when only two people are left standing. Kaito Momota, the Ultimate Astronaut, was about to break his Monopad in frustration, but Rantaro stops him since that’s against the rules and breaking the rules means facing the Exisals. Kaito’s still pissed, he gets into an argument with the Ultimate Inventor, Miu Iruma, but Kaede puts on her protag hat and insists on having everyone work together. Kokichi lovingly quips that he’s able to get behind bolognese, even though he apparently doesn’t care for meat or tomatoes. It’s hard to tell if he actually believes in her or if he’s simply being sarcastic, but he’s clearly enthusiastic about it.
Keebo suggests there may be another way out. Otherwise, how did everyone get in? Gonta Gokuhara, Ultimate Entomologist and local gentleman Tarzan, speaks up about finding a manhole that might lead to an underground exit. Everyone follows him outside, and sure enough we have a manhole in the back of the school. Kokichi finds his fun while he’s there by continuing to make fun of Keebo’s robot-ness. Look, he even has a cute nickname for him now: Kee-boy! Keebo (not really liking his new nickname) attempts to lift the manhole cover open, but it turns out he can’t even lift. Something to do with an accident during his beta phase? No matter, it’s just another thing for Kokichi to tease him about.
Gonta is easily able to lift the manhole cover and move it out of the way so everyone can go in. The manhole leads to a spacious underground passage and a long, dark tunnel conveniently marked “exit”. The place is so huge, Kokichi yodelled into the darkness and could hear his own echo. This place would be perfect for hide and seek, he says, he has plenty of experience hiding from the cops and such. Of course, he could be lying again…
Kaede rallies everyone to take on the tunnel, not realizing that it was actually a Death Road of Despair filled with too many traps for any of them to make it through. They all end up back where they started, exhausted from their ordeal. Turns out, Monokuma and his Kubs were in on this little escape plan, and they show up to personally gloat at them, telling them they will never escape, no matter how many times they tried. Kaede is not ready to give up, and continues to urge everyone to keep trying, no matter how hard it seems…
However, as they keep trying and trying, Kokichi realizes that the Death Road of Despair is simply impossible to navigate. Having to keep trying it is like torture to him and his classmates, and he’s getting sick of it. Soon enough, everyone will have to give up and return to this horrible Killing Game… A Killing Game that Kokichi would secretly be willing to do anything to ruin.
Which is quite a shame, because fainting on the Death Road of Despair for the umpteenth time seems like the perfect opportunity for Wonderland to pull someone in...
(A quick note on the backstory here. Due to a major plot twist at the end of the game, it’s possible that nothing about anyone’s backstory is actually true. For the sake of RP, I’ll be playing Kokichi as he was portrayed during the Killing Game.)
Abilities/Special Powers: Kokichi’s smart enough to analyze a lot of info and investigate on his own, he can pick locks, and as a liar he can sometimes catch onto when other people are lying through body language and tone of voice. Other than that, he is a normal human being.
Third-Person Sample:
The first things Kokichi noticed as he regained consciousness were the blades of grass brushing against his cheek. Not that surprising- The whole school was overgrown with random plants. Even the sewers had plants growing in them, probably getting grass stains on his nice white clothes and swishing in the breeze…
Wait. Breeze? There’s a breeze here, and the fact that there shouldn’t be a breeze underground woke him up. He pushed himself off the ground as fast as his aching body could muster and glanced about at his new surroundings. He wasn’t in a tunnel anymore, the daylight shone upon the beautiful garden flowers, he could see a building in the distance… And most importantly, no end wall putting iron bars between him and the sky.
He was free? His heart skipped a beat at the thought of freedom, but something wasn’t right. Nobody runs through a tormenting obstacle course a million times and then randomly wakes up outside! Still, those others are probably running around like lemmings. He should act hopeful to gather whoever else made it.
“Hey guys!” He shouted behind himself with a smile, “We made it out! We’re free!”
But nobody answered back. All Kokichi could see behind him was the entrance of a hedge maze.
Where was he…?
First-Person Sample:
[Hello, network. You get a boy who looks like he might in his… Early teens? Hard to tell. He’s wearing some sort of white outfit with a checkered scarf. Kind of a weird uniform, isn’t it?]
Hey, everyone! Does anyone else find this set up a little suspicious?
[He doesn’t seem that concerned. In fact, he sounds more like a curious kid or something.]
Like, you wake up in the middle of a strange place with no memory of how you got there, you can’t really get out, and stuff’s provided for your comfort, blah blah blah. Surprisingly enough, I’ve been through this scenario one too many times, and almost every time it’s the work of some enemy of mine trying to stage a coup. Being an evil supreme leader is harder than it looks, you know, especially since I have to deal with that on a regular basis and try to escape with my life.
[Pausing for dramatic effect…]
Okay, I lied about how many times this has happened to me. But it has happened before! And the last time it did we were forced into a killing game hosted by a robot teddy bear. Not making that part up this time.
So, are we sure nobody’s gonna come out and make things worse? Just wondering.
